Our partners Alessa Ferguson and Anyada Prapha-Phatana of Wat Promkunaram in Arizona, with support of the Thai-American Association of Arizona (https://www.thaiamericanaz.org/) introduce us to the beautiful Thai holiday, Loy Krathong.
The Thai festival of Loy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, to honor/worship the goddess of water, Phra Mae Khongkha. During this festival of renewal, Thai people celebrate by creating a "krathong" -- traditionally a banana leaf adorned with flowers and candles -- and "loy" (float) it down a river, metaphorically casting the previous year's troubles away.
