In the spirit of this week's class, which starts with a celebration of violins in West Asian and the Middle Eastern culture and travels around the world to find violins everywhere, let's celebrate one of our very favorite violin players... Gheorghe "Caliu" Anghel of the Romanian/Romani band, Taraf de Haïdouks.

Gheorghe "Caliu" Anghel is at the heart of this boisterous band...he makes exuberant Romani music with his violin. Rambunctious, virtuosic, and always with a smile. Meet Caliu in this video.
